Amidst strong swirling winds and a cloud filled sky, the Senior School students and teachers set off on their first trek of the new school year to the Vaibhav Shiva spot. Having arrived at the beauty spot after the short walk, everybody sat for 5 minutes of stillness, allowing the smells, sounds and sensations of the forest to soak in to their bodies. The sound of the wind blowing through the trees and the water flowing over the rocks really made the place come alive.
After the silence, everyone came together as the new students were introduced to the group by their peers before sharing about themselves, as well as their thoughts and experiences of their first three weeks at Isha Home School. This was followed by a games session, wherein all the students, teachers and house parents joined in a number of games like dodgeball and volleyball. Everyone was then free to play and roam around as they chose; some played ultimate frisbee, some splashed around in the water, while others sat carving wood enjoying the surroundings.
Following lunch, the students again joined together and played football and volleyball as one big group. As the time to leave approached, the children took it upon themselves to make sure that everyone left the site at least a little soaked in river water to make the walk back to school very refreshing and enjoyable. Everyone had a wonderful time.
