Guru Purnima

9-Jul: On the occasion of Guru Purnima, all gathered together in the morning for Guru Pooja, an offering and acknowledgement to all the great masters, regardless of what culture or religion they belong to, for their collective wisdom and guidance. Everyone did yoga together and then assembled for a special assembly. The junior-most students presented a short song ‘Guru Maharaj Guru Jai Jai’ which was followed by a guru vandana, a thanksgiving expressed through the poetry of dance, by two of the seniormost bharatanatyam students. Students learnt about the significance of this festival across various traditions, including the yogic tradition in which Adiyogi first transmitted the science of yoga. The assembly concluded with two original compositions, penned and put to music by Senior School students and teachers. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly an impromptu visit by Sadhguru, who briefly interacted with the students and spoke to them about the significance of the festival as well as some current projects that are being undertaken by the foundation. Interested Senior School students participated in the evening Guru Purnima celebrations held at the Isha Yoga Centre.
