Co-curricular Activities

At the Home School, co-curricular activities are an essential component of the educational process. The students have a wide range of options to choose from, and they pursue specific activities under the guidance of teachers and visiting experts.

Fine arts (painting, sculpture, pottery, embroidery) and performing arts (music, dance, drama) are available to students. Hindustani, Western music, and Bharatnatyam are options for specialization at the ICSE level.

The natural surroundings lure students to explore and learn about the environment; they go on hikes in the forest, treks to the nearby streams, and also learn about the surrounding flora and fauna.

Students may also opt to enroll in one or more of the following clubs: journalism, chess, gardening, cooking, and bird-watching.

Physical education is an intrinsic part of education. Students participate in daily morning jogging, and in athletics and evening team games, such as, cricket, football, volleyball, and throw ball. Kalarippayattu, an ancient Indian martial art form, is also offered.

Daily practice of yoga, which includes suryanamaskar, asanas, and pranayam, helps to develop the students’ physical and mental health, and well-being.

The school assembly is a dynamic and unique experience; it sets the tone for the day. It starts with an invocation, which is followed by the singing of sarlivarsai/sargam and the main presentation, and ends with a reflective moment of stillness and silence.

The main presentation can take many forms, including guest lectures, quizzes, debates, poetry recitation, drama, dance, and/or music. World renowned experts in various fields frequently visit the Home School and share their expertise and unique insights with the children.

Students participate in community development, environmental, and ecological programs within the school, in the surrounding community, and in larger initiatives of the Isha Foundation.

There is more to be seen and done after the sun sets. On clear full moon and new moon nights, students and teachers take to stargazing, along with storytelling, and musical sessions.
