Facilities

The Home School provides all the necessary facilities to ensure a healthy, comfortable, and pollution-free environment needed for children.

Accommodation

Children stay in homes that are named after flowers that bloom in the Velliangiri Mountains. All homes are aesthetically designed to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings. Their open brick construction ensures maximum natural lighting within the houses.

Each home houses about twenty children, who are looked after by house parents, who also serve as their teachers. House matrons assist house parents in tending to the children’s needs in the Junior School.

Dining

Healthy vegetarian food is served in the Home School. Children are given three meals a day--breakfast, lunch, and dinner; these are supplemented by juice and snacks during breaks. Eggs may be provided upon request.

Library

The Home School has a well equipped library that has grown with time; it comprises over 20,000 books, and includes reference books, encyclopedias, magazines, and books of several literary genres. Additional resources such as videos/DVDs, audio CDs, audio tapes are also available. The library remains open from 9:00 am to 8:30 pm daily.

On entering the Home School, each student is issued a library card which enables him/her to use the library facilities.

Laundry

Laundry facilities are available to the children.

Medical Care

Full-time doctors and nurses are available on the premises. A 12-bed clinic treats and monitors general ailments.

Most of the medical needs of the children are met within the school. Safe and natural supplements are given for health promotion and disease prevention. However, children are treated with allopathic medicines when ill. The outpatient wing caters to the day-to-day outpatient requirements and minor procedures. For specialized treatments, children may be taken to Coimbatore.
