Assembly by Padma Vibushan Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma

The students of Isha Home School got an opportunity to meet and interact with Padma Vibushan Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, a world renowned artist and santoor maestro. The santoor is a folk instrument from the valley of Kashmir. Panditji hails from Jammu and he is credited with single-handedly making the santoor a popular classical instrument in India and abroad. A recipient of many national and international awards, Panditji took some time out of his busy schedule to spend with the student.

Linga Bhairavi Consecration

The students of IHS were fortunate enough to be a part of the once in a life time opportunity – the Linga Bhairavi Consecration. Their involvement started early in January when some students had the opportunity to participate in painting the interior of the temple, whereby they exhibited their artistic talents as well as their dedication and commitment. Some of the teachers were also part of the temple art work.. A few student meditators participated fully in the consecration process which took place on the 28th, 29th and 30th of January. A few others attended the open sessions held by Sadhguru. The students witnessed, as part of the celebrations, the powerful procession of Devi which was held for 14 consecutive days. It was amazing to see how the students managed their time and were able to do their studies and participate in the celebrations at the same time.

 

 
Republic Day celebrations

On the occasion of Republic Day on 26th January, IHS students and staff, attired in white, marched to the grounds to the beat of drums played by the Home School Band. The school took great pride in the band's rendition of the national anthem as they commemorated the occasion. They stood in attention to witness the flag hoisting by the chief guest Captain Rajagopal. During his address, the chief guest spoke about the significance of Republic Day and how our Constitution was drawn. His thoughtful words helped students come to a better understanding of the Indian Constitution. After the flag hoisting ceremony, the students assembled for a joint assembly where some students performed the “Aashayein” song. The assembly concluded with the chief-guest distributing State Sports Tournament Awards.

 

 
Visit to Coimbatore city to watch Avatar Movie

In this movie, I noticed for a change, the aliens were good and humans were bad.”– Sriram, a Junior School student said.

 

Now I understand that fighting is bad.” - Shivansh, another Junior School student said.

 

 

The IHS children went to a theatre in Coimbatore city to watch James Cameron's 3-D movie 'Avatar'. The incredibly stunning visuals and compelling story line kept the children thinking 'what next'. The movie,with its 3-D effects, was definitely meaningful and memorable to the children. The children enjoyed eating popcorn as they watched the movie.

Pongal celebrations

The four-day long harvest festival of Tamil Nadu, Pongal was celebrated in Isha Home School with great enthusiasm. 14th January had seen a special assembly, where the students participated in the cultural programme and in debate. The topic for the debate was “Is Science creative or destructive?” Both the students and the staff participated in the debate. Sugarcanes, one of the important features of the festival, were seen all over the school. The students and the adults made elaborate 'kolum' patterns in front of their houses.
