Isha Home School recently hosted an art workshop entitled “Seeing and Creating” which was conducted by Steve Johnson, who is the Assistant Professor of Drawing at the College of Charleston, USA. Mr. Johnson is currently teaching visual arts at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath in Bengaluru as a Fulbright Scholar. He took the time to visit Isha Home School to give a lecture and two day workshop for senior art students where they explored the processes and materials used in traditional and non-traditional drawing. The drawing sessions included demonstrations and individual guidance aimed at helping students advance their artistic and problem solving skills. The activities helped to strengthen the students’ observational skills with a unique combination of drawing fundamentals of perspective aimed at guiding students to more creative and expressive use of their technical skills. We all enjoyed the workshop and hope Mr. Johnson will visit again before he returns to the US.
