A Cappella Takes Off at IHS

For the first time, the IHS Music Department offered interested Senior School students the opportunity to form an a cappella group. A cappella music is essentially a group or solo singing with no musical accompaniment. To introduce a cappella to the student body, Mr. Yuvaraj Loganathan, the ensemble’s director conducted an assembly, in which he made students listen to an instrumental version of Badinerie from Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor by Johann Sebastian Bach. He then showcased the famed a cappella group Swingle Singers performing the same piece without any instrumentation. Auditions were held on June 16th and sixteen students were selected to be a part of the ensemble. Rehearsals are underway. Stay tuned for upcoming performances.
