On the 15th of June, a select group of IHS boys started their term with a cricket camp conducted by Mr. Sanjay Mullesseri, Assistant Coach of the present Tamilnadu Ranji team. He enthusiastically trained IHS students ranging in age from from 2nd grade to 12th grade. Knowing this was a golden opportunity, twenty-five young aspiring cricket players showed up for the camp. Each of the 10-day training camp sessions had both morning and evening practices. Students were expected to spend a lot of time on their feet and learn as much as possible in the short time they had with Mr. Mullesseri. The ten days were packed with challenges including the weather. Despite the rain, the camp participants insisted that the sessions continued, so alternate locations were found and the boys played cricket in Tarana, Assembly Hall, and even in the Gnanashala AV Room Mr. Mullesseri held interactive sessions about great cricket players, leadership skills, nutrition, and team building as well as training sessions on batting, bowling, fielding, and overall fitness.  Students, who have been pursing cricket for the last three years, voluntarily approached him for minute corrections. On their final day of camp, some students shared how much they valued their time with Coach Mullesseri: “I started playing with cricket ball with utmost confidence which I lacked before.” – Jothirmayi jain (V) “This camp was very useful for me in terms of getting to know even the minute things in cricket, like holding a bat, watching the ball and standing positions.”  – Yagneswar (XI)   Mr. Mullesseri concluded the training camp by sharing how much he enjoyed his experience with the students and hopes for future collaboration with the school.
