Guru Pournami was celebrated in a grand manner at the Isha Yoga Center, with over 15,000 people in attendance. Students were taken to witness the unveiling of the first Adiyogi statue. Thereafter, interested students attended a nightlong darshan with Sadhguru.

The 21-foot Adiyogi statue is bound for the Isha Institute of Inner Sciences in the US. The statue is a symbolic acknowledgement of Adiyogi’s contribution to the world. It was apt that this statue be unveiled on the occasion of Guru Pournami, as it was on this day that Adiyogi Shiva transformed into the Adi Guru, or the first Guru, and began the transmission of the yogic sciences to the Saptarishis, and set forth the possibility that if one strives, one can transcend all limitations.
