All gathered on the sports ground this morning for the flag hoisting ceremony to commemorate 68 years of India’s independence. The sky was clear and the weather was ideal for unveiling the tricolor flag and paying respect to the nation. Students and teachers were dressed in freshly ironed whites and stood in position against the backdrop of the majestic Velliangiri foothills. The observance ended with a few teachers singing Parukulle Nalla Nadu by renowned independence activist and iconoclastic reformer Mahakavi Subramanya Bharathi.
