What’s the best way to start the term? Well, in the case of Junior School it’s a field trip of course!

The Junior School students checked in on the 2nd of December and were off the next day for a field trip to the Malampuzha Dam, the largest reservoir in Kerala.

The day started really early with the children boarding the buses at 7 am in the morning. Having just arrived in school the students and teachers spent the bus journey catching up on the vacation. As engrossed as we were, the time passed by and before we knew it we were in Kerala.

Once we reached, we took a walk on the dam. The students were introduced to the structure, the importance and the uses of the dam.The dam is surrounded by beautiful gardens and the children enjoyed strolling through them. We even went for a short, refreshing boat ride on the lake.

After lunch we headed for the much awaited Ropeway where the students we able to get a bird’s eye view of the dam. It was wonderful to see the older children look after the younger ones, making sure that they were not afraid.

Next was the snake park. The children were enthralled by the various snakes, which included the king cobra and a python and also crocodiles.

Just as we had decided to call it a day, we were informed of another exciting place, a Rock Garden situated just a few minutes away from the dam.The Rock Garden proved to be the icing on the cake. It was a beautifully created maze where the walls of the maze were decorated with different coloured stones, mosaic tiles, glass bangles of various colours and much more. There was even a wall that was made of plug points!

After this interesting diversion we headed back to IHS.

It was a wonderful way to start the term! Looking forward to the numerous adventures to come!
