Yet another year! Yet another Sports Day!

Over the past few months the students have been battling it out on the sports field. They have all been striving with the hope that theirs will be the kingdom that triumphs! The culminating day was no different!

The Rain Gods (as usual) graced us with their presence on the eve of Sports day. This did not deter the children’s enthusiasm as they went about finishing up their decorations, choreographing their cheer dance, re-recording their cheer songs and any last minute preparation that was needed.

On 17th October we all woke up to the sound of rain and cloudy skies. Well, as always, that did not stop us from going ahead with the events for the day. Once the skies cleared up the students were on the field dressed in the traditional kurta and panchakacham ready to start the “Chatra Sanchalan vignyas”, the march past that was designed by our founder, Sadhguru, intended to be reminiscent of the battles between the great empires of yore. This was followed by the school song.

After the opening ceremony, the students had the opportunity to present their cheer songs and dances. These songs and dances were written, composed, sung and choreographed by the students themselves. It was wonderful to see the students portray their creativity!

Then, it was time for the much awaited and anticipated races! The students participated in all the events with much vigour.

The students then took a much deserved break while the parents showcased their athletic skills. Volleyball and throw ball matches were conducted and the parents participated with more energy and enthusiasm than their children.

Evening dawned and it was time for the last races of the day! The relays left all of us amazed and in awe. Just as the last race ended, the skies opened up and it rained cats and dogs! Not wanting to miss this opportunity to duke it out in the rain, the students then participated in a Students vs Alumini volley ball match.

The day ended with the silent march past in which the students of the 10th and 12th standards symbolically handed over the responsibilities of the school to the 11th standards.

Without much ado the rolling trophy was handed over to Kakatiya, the winners of the 2014 Sports Day!

Once the winning team finished their victory lap, the students gathered together to listen to a few words by their captains and vice captains.

There were smiles all around as the students rejoiced in the knowledge that the battle had been a well fought one! It truly was an experience in the spirit of our motto “I play to win but win in the victory of all.”
